Team News
Goalkeeper Jose Reina and defender Glen Johnson remain injury doubts for the visit of Newcastle.

Reina has missed four matches with a hamstring injury while Johnson was absent for last week’s Merseyside derby with a similar niggle and will be assessed before Sunday.

Manager Brendan Rodgers is set to restore his first-choice line-up after making nine changes for the midweek Capital One Cup defeat by Swansea.

Newcastle striker Demba Ba could return to fitness in time for Sunday’sPremier League match against Liverpool at Anfield.

His manager, Alan Pardew, said Ba, who is recovering from a calf problem, has a good chance of being in contention for the game against Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Newcastle will be without midfielder Cheick Tiote, who is serving the second game of a three-match ban after he was sent off during the 1-1 draw against Sunderland last month.

Match Notes
After resting his youngsters in the Carling One Cup, Brendan Rodgers will summon them back against Newcastle as Liverpool look to win back-to-back home games in the league for the first time in 14 months.

Steven Gerrard will make a landmark 600th appearance as Liverpool seek to break into the top ten. Newcastle were one of the few teams to lose at Anfield last season, but Alan Pardew may think if he can stop Suarez, he can stop Liverpool.
